Fresh Produce

The weather has been so nice lately so Jeff and I decided to plant our garden last weekend. I really do enjoy doing this. But I don't have a green thumb and last year the plants didn't do so well. This year I'm making a goal to make at least more then one dish out of the things I grow. Lets hope they grow nice and yummy. Porter has recently developed a picky appetite and making meals that he approves of consists of Rice and Chicken. So I thought that if I let him pick out some plants that he likes and is in charge of tending to them, maybe he'll enjoy them a little more. Jeff's mom got me a medal letter stamper for my Birthday and I have been dying to find something to try it out on. So, I decided I would use it to label our garden with. I went to our local thrift store and found some old forks and spoons. After a few practices and a bruised thumb it turned out better than I imagined. Thanks mommy Pattie for the gift!

Fit for fun run

My mom and sister are workout-aholics! The devoted kind, where they schedule events around their work outs. Well, I think they are wearing off on my husband. Lately he's been signing up for half marathons and RAGNAR and all those other crazy fun events. So when Porter came home from school with a flyer about his school Fit For Fun Run I wasn't surprised that he wouldn't settle with doing the kids 5K but he was determined to do the 5K. I was happy to see him wanting to participate in this but slightly worried. He plays soccer and likes playing outside but running a 5K was not something I had seen him do. We trained a little for it and he would do the 3.1 miles great on his bike.... But time was up and before I knew it we were all in our matching t-shirts ready for the count down. Porter found a few friends right before the race and decided he was going to run it with them instead of with the family ( a sad, my baby is growing up to fast, moment for me) And he was off. I couldn't believe how well he was doing and how hard I had to run to catch up. He finished and didn't give up.  I was such a proud momma. He had made a goal to do something and finished it even though it was much harder then he had expected. Way to go Porter!

Motor Cross

We took Porter to his first Motor Cross this past weekend. He loved it! (maybe not as much as he loved eating that whole bucket of pop corn) but still enjoyed the excitement. Jeff's brother can usually get us tickets so this was our second year going and hopefully not the last.  I love the atmosphere and excitement of live shows. But you will never see me watch it on T.V. All in all it was a good time.

Proof that this goofy kid can chow down the pop corn.

It's only just begun

This January I was lucky enough to marry the most wonderful man I know. Jeff and I knew of each other in High School (mainly because I think he dated every single one of my friends) but didn't actually get to know each other until last year. We started dating in March and by September were engaged. I could never have asked for a better man to help me parent my rambunctious 7yr. old. He is so patient with the both of us ;) Life has been crazy fun adjusting to the new life. I have learned a lot about myself and how much more I have to learn and grow. But for now I'm soaking it all in and lovin it!

If your anything like me, you're a Pinterest fanatic. I'm always trying to improve on my wifey and mommy skills and of course found a few great websites from Pinterest that help me a bunch. And as always, I'm up for any tips and tricks.

This guy is hilarious... Kinda a what not to do. I love how he isn't afraid to admit when he is wrong.... I need to work on that.
